Accountant – Up to £35,000 DOE + Benefits | Permanent | Hybrid | Macclesfield, Cheshire

Are you an experienced accountant looking for a new challenge in a flexible, people-focused environment? We’re recruiting for a qualified by experience, qualified or part-qualified Accountant to join a growing and ambitious accountancy and payroll firm based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. This is a permanent position offering hybrid/remote working and flexible or part-time hours for the right candidate.

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting services to a portfolio of SMEs and PSCs, working directly with the Partner and helping to shape the future of our dynamic practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
• Manage a personal portfolio of clients, acting as their trusted advisor
• Oversee personal and corporate tax computations and submissions
• Conduct regular account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
• Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
• Train and mentor junior team members, supporting their development
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and financial performance
• Participate in business development and client onboarding activities

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and compliance
• Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
• Confident in preparing personal tax returns and statutory accounts
• Proven experience in client relationship management
• Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
• A self-starter with a proactive and collaborative attitude
